A huge congratulations must go to Brabham Automotive after their highly successful debut race last weekend.
We’re enormously proud to have supplied them with a bespoke version of our MFT Transaxle for use in this car.
Whilst of course it’s always fantastic to be involved with any project of such a high-calibre and with such a famous name attached, this is particularly special for Holinger Engineering, as this company may not have existed without Brabham. Peter Holinger and David Nash, the fathers of current Holinger directors John and Leigh respectively, got their start in Motorsport working for Repco-Brabham, being part of the design and manufacturing team responsible for delivering the little engine from Down-Under to the Brabham F1 team in the 60’s.
The Repco V8 powered Sir Jack to win the 1966 Formula One World Championship, famously the only driver to do so in a car bearing his own name.
Peter Holinger founded Holinger Engineering to produce parts for this engine and even used one in his own cars, winning 3 Australian Hill-Climb championships with Repco-Brabham power.
So for us to be once again involved with the Brabham name, some 50 years later, is very special and something we’re sure Pete would be proud of.
On the technical side of things: what a car the Brabham BT62 is! It’s a great testament to what we can do in Australia, our engineering abilities are truly world class but they are sometimes over-looked or maybe dismissed when they shouldn’t be. Like the old Repco engines, it’s great to see that these cars being built here and we couldn’t be happier to be supplying the project. This is a real Aussie, World-Class-Supercar. A powerful V8 Engine, coupled to a light-weight but super-sturdy transmission, with a no-nonsense layout…….
More wins will be in the cars future we're sure.
